Making A Halloween Cat Pop-Up Card

From Halloween

A Halloween cat pop-up card is a festive handmade greeting to make.  In this post you can see how I drew the background and the cat for my spooky pop-up card.

Divide the paper for the pop-up card in half.

Now the card is divided into a quarter fold card.  The next step is to cut a slit where the pop-up will go on the card.  Then I fold the pop-up portion of the card out. This way it will “pop-out” when I open the card, and fold back down when it is closed. My next step is to draw the wall where the cat is going to sit.  After that, I ketch in the moon above the cat. The cat was drawn on a envelope I was going to just throw away, which demonstrates how I recycled when creating this cute cat card.

I colored the cat in with a black colored pencil, and I made his eyes are yellow because these glow in the dark for Halloween.  Once I have finished coloring the cat, I cut out the feline shape for the pop-up card. I sketched out the text of “Halloween Black Cat” for the card, and shade in the yellow text and the pale moon. I used a dark blue colored pencil to create a mid-night colored sky, which will be the background for my Halloween cat.  Once I have finished coloring in the sky that will be behind the cat in the pop-up card scene, I begin coloring in the gray brick wall that the cat will sit on.  After I finished coloring in the gray brick wall, I glued the black cat to the pop-up portion of the card. The front of the card I designed with yellow “Happy Halloween” text, and a black background.
