Today I finished drawing a picture of Stripey the cat with a San Bernardino Mountains backdrop. The hills behind Stripey cat consists of the desert facing side of the mountains, which contain chaparral brush and boulders. There are also some daffodils planted directly behind the cat, which is an ode to spring and how many of these flowers bloom in the San Bernardino Mountains during the months of March and April. I enjoy creating cat art with a Southern California mountain theme since I grew up in this region.
During Christmas I did not have time to post this project, but the video below illustrates how I created an adult coloring page with loose change. All that was needed for this project was a pencil, a quarter, a dime, a penny, crayons, markers, oil pastels, and paper. Making your own coloring page is a simple and creative art project that people of all ages can enjoy.
Today I finished painting a picture of Irina the cat with a San Bernardino Mountains backdrop. I decided to place large boulders next to Irina, and the mountains behind her because this is a very iconic Southern California image. Irina has never ventured out near large boulders, but I like to imagine that she has taken nature hikes, just like I did when I drew a picture of her out at the Pinnacles back in August of 2014. Growing up my cats used to love to hike with me on a trail near my house, so I have never been able to stop envisioning domestic cats in nature.
So how did I create the current painting of Irina the cat? First, I created an outline drawing of Irina on the canvas board.
Our four legged friends also enjoy spending time in nature, and why not create imagery that reflect the beauty of a feline and Southern California. Irina the cat and nature continue to inspire me every day.
Today I have started a new art t-shirt site called Art Shirt Designs, which will feature shirts with reprints of my artwork and photography. The shirt below was created with fabric markers, and is an example of the type of imagery you can find on the shirts I sell over on Zazzle. This one has an image I drew by hand, but all of my artwork has a vibrant sort of theme. I love to focus on the gentle and bright side of art because that is my thing. Always be you in the world of art, and smile about it. Things such as cats and palm trees motivate and inspire me in my daily life, and I would not have it any other way.
