The background behind Irina is the San Bernardino Mountains with the view of Mount Baldy in the distance. Several different mountain ranges are connected via passes here in Southern California, which are visible at different locations when up in the mountains. Thus, a person can see the top of Mount Baldy when on the desert facing side of the San Bernardino Mountains.
I used violet blue, blue, and white colored pencils to shade in Mount Baldy. The trees closer to Irina, which are in the San Bernardino Mountains, are being colored in with various shades of green colored pencils. Pilot rock is also visible in the background, which is a mountain with a large boulder on top.
Sometimes I like to share my art progress on Instagram, as I did here when I started coloring in the trees on the ridge closest to Irina, which is located in the San Bernardino Mountains.
The video illustrates how the drawing of Irina the cat in the San Bernardino Mountains evolved from start to finish.
